What this gender identity test measures
This gender identity test estimates patterns across six reflection domains inspired by contemporary gender identity research. Twenty-four original Likert items group into alignment with assigned gender, comfort with gendered expectations, euphoria versus dysphoria signals, exploration of other genders, pronoun and name comfort, and social gender expression. Results show a reflection index and domain bars with reflective bands. No quiz can name your gender for you.
Assigned gender alignment
How well your inner sense of self matches the gender assigned at birth.
Gendered expectations
Comfort or tension with social roles and stereotypes tied to your assigned gender.
Euphoria and dysphoria
Joy imagining other genders versus distress about body or assignment signals.
Gender exploration
Curiosity about non-binary, genderfluid, trans, and other gender identities.
Pronoun and name comfort
Ease or friction with the names and pronouns others use for you.
Social expression
How you present gender outwardly and whether that matches expectations.

What your result means
Your reflection index is the average of all six domain scores, each normalized to 0 through 100. Higher percentages mean more frequent agreement with exploration, dysphoria, pronoun discomfort, and expression-shift items (and less frequent agreement with reverse-scored alignment items). Domain bars show whether alignment, expectations, dysphoria, exploration, pronouns, or expression drives your band.
| Reflective band | Score range | Typical reading |
|---|---|---|
| Mostly Aligned | 0 to 35% | Relatively at home with assigned gender on these items |
| Mixed Gender Exploration | 36 to 65% | Blend of alignment and questioning signals across domains |
| Stronger Alternative Gender Signals | 66 to 100% | Stronger exploration, dysphoria, or expression signals; still not a prescribed label |

The diagram below shows how domain scores appear in your results. High exploration with moderate dysphoria, for example, can still land you in Mixed Gender Exploration if your overall reflection index sits between bands.

Gender identity, dysphoria, and self-reflection
Psychologist Sandra Bem's gender schema theory, published in the 1980s, described how people process gender-related information and how that processing can feel automatic or strained. More recently, the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH) Standards of Care (8th edition, 2022) emphasize that gender identity is self-defined and that access to affirming care should follow individual needs rather than gatekeeping quizzes. The Quiz Hub built this gender identity test as a compassionate reflection tool inspired by those ideas, not as a clinical gender dysphoria inventory.
Twenty-four original items ask about alignment with birth assignment, discomfort with gendered roles, euphoria imagining other genders, curiosity about trans and non-binary experiences, pronoun and name friction, and expression shifts. That framework helps organize mixed feelings before you decide what language fits. For attraction patterns separate from gender, try our sexuality test. For a narrower trans-specific angle, browse our am I trans quiz. For non-binary reflection items, try our non-binary test.
| The Quiz Hub test | What it adds |
|---|---|
| Sexuality test | Attraction patterns across genders when orientation and gender feel intertwined |
| Am I trans quiz | Trans-specific identity reflection with targeted items |
| Non-binary test | Non-binary and genderfluid reflection framing across six focused domains |
| Sexual orientation test | Orientation reflection across men, women, and non-binary people |
| This gender identity test | 24 items with six domains, reflection index, and non-prescriptive reflective bands |
Sample item: agreeing that you feel curious about non-binary or genderfluid identities raises your gender exploration bar. Agreeing that your inner self-image lines up with birth records lowers your reflection index through a reverse-scored alignment item. Cultural safety, religious pressure, and privacy concerns can keep scores moderate even when feelings are strong. Gender identity test FAQ
What does this gender identity test measure?
This gender identity test measures self-reported patterns across six reflection domains: assigned gender alignment, comfort with gendered expectations, euphoria and dysphoria signals, exploration of other genders, pronoun and name comfort, and social gender expression. Twenty-four Likert items produce a reflection index, six domain bars, and a reflective band such as Mostly Aligned, Mixed Gender Exploration, or Stronger Alternative Gender Signals. It cannot determine your gender or assign identity labels.
Can an online gender identity test tell me if I am transgender or non-binary?
No. No online quiz can know your gender identity with certainty or prescribe a label you must adopt. This screener organizes your self-report into domains and bands for reflection. Affirming conversation, time, and lived experience matter more than any score. Only you define your gender.
What if my result shows Mixed Gender Exploration?
Mixed Gender Exploration means your answers suggest a blend of alignment and questioning signals across domains without one clear gender story dominating. That is a valid place to be. Middle reflection scores do not mean you are confused or wrong. They can reflect situational gender feelings, privacy, or simply not focusing on labels yet.
How is this different from a sexuality test?
A sexuality test maps attraction patterns across genders. This gender identity test focuses on how you experience your own gender: alignment with birth assignment, dysphoria or euphoria, pronoun comfort, and expression. Pair both when attraction and gender feel intertwined.
Is this gender identity test affirming for trans and non-binary readers?
Yes. Results treat all gender positions as valid, avoid prescriptive outcomes, and mention trans and non-binary resources affirmingly. Limits include crisis links for youth distress, including The Trevor Project. This quiz is not a substitute for gender-affirming care.
